This is not a command, it rather is a statement of what the will of God is. Was this will of God accomplished in Thessalonica? It seems it was not in Corinth. God's glory Claim: God seeks his own glory. Against (Refuting) Calvinism: God is love. 1 John 4:8. Love seeks not her own. 1 Cor. 13:5.
Therefore, god does not seek his own. However, Calvinism posits the opposite:
God's pleasure Claim: All that God does is for his pleasure. Against (Refuting) Calvinism: Proof by contradiction, of the invalidity of the claimRom 15:3 says Christ, who is God, pleased not himself. If the claim is true, we have a contradiction. Therefore the claim is not true. |
