Title | Claim | Refuting Calvinism |
---|---|---|
God's sovereignty | God ordains sins, crimes, etc. |
TBA (to be added) |
Total depravity | Humans are totally depraved and as a result, cannot receive salvation, & cannot choose to receive salvation. |
|
Irresistible grace | One cannot resist / reject salvation. |
TBA (to be added) |
God's will | God's (decretive) will is always done. |
This is not a command, it rather is a statement of what the will of God is. Was this will of God accomplished in Thessalonica? It seems it was not in Corinth. |
God's glory | God seeks his own glory. |
God is love. 1 John 4:8. Love seeks not her own. 1 Cor. 13:5.
Therefore, god does not seek his own. However, Calvinism posits the opposite:
|
God's pleasure | All that God does is for his pleasure. |
Proof by contradiction, of the invalidity of the claimRom 15:3 says Christ, who is God, pleased not himself. If the claim is true, we have a contradiction. Therefore the claim is not true. |
