Who created God?

Lennox points out something like this: Belief in energy and consciousness without knowing what they are - because of their explanatory power - is inconsistent with denial of belief in God because of explanatory power.

Also Lennox points out something like this:

Accepting that the universe created people, while leaving unanswered the question of who created the universe, is in a very relevant way like the issue with God - accepting that God created people, while leaving unanswered the question of who created God.

Accepting one of these while rejecting the other - is this intellectually consistent?
