Liberty

Public

There is liberty where God is, the Bible tells us.

2 Corinthians 3:17

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Jesus came to set captives free.

Luke 4:18

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Galatians - stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made you free.

Galatians 5:1

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Hebrews - Jesus came to set free those who were bound by fear of death

Hebrews 2:15

And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Let every man give as he hath purposed in his heart, not grudgingly nor of necessity.

2 Corinthians 9:7

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

If a religion gives a person bondage, then that might be one indicator suggesting to check further that religion.

It is sad if religion gives bondage, rather than setting people free.

One example of Christ setting free from trauma is described by Dr Michael E. Holden, director of the Primal Institute, co-author of Primal Man, in his own words below: 1

So do you know what? Primal therapy is not the cure for neurosis. It helps. But it is not the cure for neurosis. God is the cure for neurosis, because God can take all pain out of you. God has graciously done that for me. I consider myself absolutely pain free. I've asked the Lord to come into the cellar of my life and clean me out. And folks,I'm clean. No more primal Pain, no more reservoir, no more nightmares, no more death awareness, no more primal Pain nightmares, no sick behaviors. Praise God. It's a lot better than primal therapy to be a Christian.

Also he said

You've got to know, from all the articles I wrote, from the book I co-authored with Arthur Janov (Transcriber's Note: Primal Man: The New Consciousness), how deeply involved I was with primal therapy, how interested I was in primal therapy, but I'll tell you the truth, primal therapy can make your body feel a little better, but it cannot save your soul!

... So here I am, Michael Holden, former director of the Primal Institute, who almost single handedly, defined the physiology of the primal response, who probably knows more about the biology and the physiology of primal therapy than any man living, understanding and realizing that it all counts for nothing and is as the apostle Paul says, to be counted as dung because of the glory of knowing Jesus Christ!
